Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Petoskey, MI, requiring 2+ years of straight Med/Surg experience and Level I or II trauma experience.
Details
- 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit in a hospital setting (Level 2 North)
- Diverse patient population including general surgery, vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients
- Fast-paced environment serving as the hospital's designated stroke unit
- 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Michigan (MI) RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of straight Med/Surg RN experience required — float pool, SDU, or telemetry experience does not qualify
- Level I or II trauma experience required
- Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration
- Full-time McLaren employees are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment

- Collaborative Interdisciplinary Care Team environment using clinical pathways, patient education, and SBAR communication
- Active Unit Based Council (Shared Governance) promotes teamwork and a healthy work environment
- New team members receive orientation support as they grow in their nursing practice
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Strict attendance policy in effect: three instances of being absent or more than 20 minutes late to a scheduled shift may result in immediate termination; exceptions may be made for communicable illness or hospitalization with documentation
- No more than 5 days of RTO may be requested for the duration of the contract
- Candidates with a permanent address within 35 miles of the facility are considered local travelers and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
