Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Burn ICU (BICU) position in Indianapolis, IN, caring for adult and pediatric burn trauma patients on a 12-week night shift contract.
Details
- Burn ICU setting within a hospital environment, caring for both adult and pediatric burn trauma patients
- Patient conditions include flame, scald, electrical, and chemical burns, inhalation injuries, necrotic ischemia, and necrotizing fasciitis throughout the continuum of care
- Primary RN Care model with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio for critical care patients
- 1:1 nursing care support provided for burn trauma code 1 admissions and high-acuity or post-operative patients
- Specialized procedures include invasive hemodynamic monitoring (at least Q1hr), IV drip titration, nurse-driven burn fluid resuscitation (Parkland formula), ventilator management, CVVH, Q1hr pulse and flap doppler checks, initial debridement and dressing changes, conscious sedation, surgical recovery, and epidural pump management
- Night shift: 19:00–07:30
- 12-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Indiana or a valid Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS — all must be AHA-issued
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required (Group A updated yearly; Groups B–F updated every 2 years)
- Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
- Must possess a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address
- Two professional references required
- Copy of Driver's License required for consideration

- Delivers primary RN care to critically ill adult and pediatric burn trauma surgical patients
- Local candidates are accepted; however, a radius rule applies and may result in a reduced pay rate — contact your recruiter for details
