Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and advanced interventional cath lab skills.

- Cath Lab unit in an acute care teaching hospital setting that is Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated, and ACC-accredited for PCI procedures
- Serves adult patients across 6 procedure rooms with a daily census of 15–20 patients
- Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closures
- Advanced procedures performed include TAVR, left atrial appendage closures (Watchman), Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips (MitraClip), renal denervation, and research protocols
- Equipment includes IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
- Epic EMR experience required
- Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:30a–6:00p, plus call responsibilities
- Each clinician is expected to take 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts per 6-week period; one full weekend of call (Fri–Sun) must be scheduled together, with remaining weekday call shifts (Mon–Thu) taken individually throughout the cycle
- One Saturday shift for elective cases is required per 6-week period
- Clinicians must be available to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when on call
- Holiday coverage requires availability to work or take call for one holiday per 13-week contract, on a rotating basis with staff
Requirements
- Active VA RN license or Compact RN license required; Virginia offers emergency authorization to travelers with an active out-of-state license while a permanent VA license is processing
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Proficiency in cardiac cath lab procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and MitraClip
- Experience with sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
- Experience in diagnostic and interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
- Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when on call
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Additional Information
- Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab procedures in a high-volume, nationally recognized cardiovascular program
- The cath lab is supported by adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs, with a multidisciplinary team
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles from the facility are eligible for one 13-week contract
- Contract length is 13 weeks with extensions up to 26 weeks available upon request
- All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application
