Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab Tech with experience in advanced cardiac cath lab procedures, including structural heart interventions, for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital.

• Work in a state-of-the-art cardiac cath lab at an acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital with ACC accreditation for PCI procedures
• 6 procedure rooms with a daily census of 15–20 adult patients
• Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closures
• Advanced procedures include TAVR, left atrial appendage closures (Watchman), Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips (Mitraclip), renal denervation, and research protocols
• Standard procedures include LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, and temp pacemaker placement
• Equipment includes IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
• Epic EMR experience required
• 4x10 hour day shifts, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM, plus call
• Each clinician is expected to take 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts within every 6-week period; one full weekend of call (Fri–Sun) must be scheduled together, with remaining weekday call shifts (Mon–Thu) taken individually throughout the cycle
• One Saturday shift for elective cases is required per 6-week period
• Clinicians must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called
• One holiday per 13-week contract required, in rotation with staff

Requirements

• Current BLS and ACLS required
• ARRT(R) or CCI RCIS required; Virginia state license preferred for ARRT(R) holders — any active state license (in hand or pending) is accepted, as Virginia grants emergency authorization to travelers while a permanent VA license is processing; no state license required for CCI RCIS holders
• License required if applicable
• Minimum experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab settings using fluoroscopy
• Proficiency in LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
• Skilled in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
• Must be able to work with adult patient populations
• Two professional references required for consideration
• PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

• The facility is supported by a multidisciplinary team with adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates located 50–99.9 miles from the facility are eligible for one 13-week contract
• All RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application
• The facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
