Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN - LDRP for a Maternity Services Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and Nebraska or Compact RN licensure.
Details
- Inpatient hospital setting in the Maternity Services unit, covering Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursery
- L&D unit includes 2 triage rooms, 3 labor rooms, and 2 pre-op/post-op rooms; postpartum has 8 beds; NICU has 8 beds
- Patient care includes vaginal deliveries, vacuum- or forceps-assisted deliveries, external cephalic version (ECV), and cesarean deliveries, as well as postpartum and newborn care
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 for active laboring patients, 1:3 for antepartum, 1:3 couplets for postpartum
- Equipment used includes electronic fetal monitoring with central monitoring, ultrasound (positioning and setup), Giraffe and Panda infant warmers, Plum IV pumps, and pneumatic leg pumps
- Schedule is 36 hours/week on 12-hour shifts; day shift 0630–1900, night shift 1830–0700, with some weekend and holiday requirements
- Floating may be required to postpartum and, if experienced, to NICU feeder-grower patients (1:3 ratio)
Requirements
- Active NE or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in L&D, recovery, and postpartum required
- ADN or BSN degree required
- 2 references required for consideration: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include caring for patients throughout labor and delivery, assisting with postpartum care, performing newborn assessments, and conducting and documenting newborn hearing screens
- Unstable infant care may be required as needed
- Nurse will never work alone and will serve as the second experienced labor nurse on shift
- Orientation consists of 2–3 shifts before working independently, scheduled on night shift
- Hospital-provided scrubs are required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
