Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details

  • 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) in a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital
  • Cares for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease of any age, including cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses, with an average daily census of 26
  • Common procedures include cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices (VAD), heart transplantation, cardiac catheterization, and associated medical cardiac diagnoses
  • Unit provides ventilatory and cardiac support including ECMO and CRRT, as well as other complex supportive therapies
  • Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
  • All CVPICU beds are monitored beds
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Requires 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule with holiday rotation
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
  • Charting is done in Epic
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
  • Required certifications: PALS and BLS — AHA-issued only
  • Preferred certification: ACLS — AHA-issued only
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience required
  • Cardiovascular and pediatric nursing experience required
  • VAD experience highly preferred
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

  • Serves as the referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina
  • Pediatric palliative care is available on the unit as needed
  • Team includes RNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries, with ancillary support from Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
  • Online modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
  • Candidates who were previously permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before being eligible
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be provided at the time of consideration; approval is based on unit needs
  • Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted; non-local candidates are prioritized
  • Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local and will be offered a local pay rate
