Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a small acute care hospital in Americus, GA, requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in a 54-bed acute care hospital in Americus, GA
• LDRP unit with 10 LDRP beds, 1 C-section suite, and 4 triage beds; OR used occasionally for C-sections
• Level 2 NICU on unit; experienced travelers may float to NICU
• Patient population includes mothers 32 weeks gestation or greater without significant maternal risk factors, as well as stable antepartum patients (e.g., mag therapy, hyperemesis)
• Approximately 30–60 births per month
• Staffing ratios follow ACOG guidelines
• Unit supported by 2 LPNs and 2 OR techs who assist with C-sections, secretary duties, and discharges
• Fetal heart monitoring system: WatchChild (transition to WatchChild or OBIX within 6 months)
• Charting via MEDITECH (experience preferred)
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Travelers do not take call
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (EFM) or above
• Minimum 2 years of L&D specialty experience required
• At least 1 prior travel nursing contract required
• Ability to circulate for C-sections (scrubbing performed by OR techs)
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility, as verified by the address on their driver's license

Additional Information

• Orientation averages 6 shifts, depending on familiarity with charting systems
• OB physician is in-house only when a patient is in active labor; anesthesia is in-house only for VBACs
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; pharmacy not on-site 24/7 but accessible via a nearby affiliate and an on-call pharmacist
• Scrub dress code: forest green pants and white tops (or white pants); scrubs are not provided by the facility — travelers are responsible for their own scrubs (hospital scrubs provided for C-section cases)
• Candidates who have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
• RTO requests are honored only if included in the initial assignment confirmation
