Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring cardiovascular OR experience including open heart, CABG, TAVR, and ECMO, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

- Work in the surgical unit of a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
- CVOR patient population includes open heart, CABG, TAVR, AVR, MVR, sternotomy, thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, VATS, and ECMO
- General OR case types include trauma (no burns), neuro, general, vascular (including endovascular), ENT, ortho spine, ortho (total joint), GYN, urology, robotics (general and neuro), plastics, breast, and eyes
- Patient ratio is 1:1
- Role is circulator only — no scrubbing required
- EMR: Cerner (Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Spacelabs monitors)
- 8-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week, starting at 7:00 AM
- On-call schedule includes approximately 1 weekday per week and one weekend per month (Friday 3 PM–7 AM, Saturday 24 hours, Sunday 24 hours), totaling approximately 10 call days per month
- 30-minute response time required for on-call
- No floating required
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or Compact RN license (pending licensure may be considered with ETA provided)
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required (1 year of experience is not sufficient for this role)
- Hands-on experience with cardiovascular cases including open heart, CABG, TAVR, AVR, MVR, sternotomy, thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, VATS, and ECMO
- Strong experience in trauma (no burns), neuro, general, vascular, ENT, ortho spine, ortho with total joint experience, GYN, urology, robotics, plastics, breast, and eyes
- Robotic experience preferred (Mazor/DaVinci Xi)
- Candidate must reside more than 60 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- One reference from a charge nurse or above within the past 12 months required for consideration
- DOB (day and month) and full SSN required for consideration
- Copy of certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Circulate cardiovascular and general OR cases across a broad range of surgical service lines
- Unit support includes an ORA, desk assistant, charge nurse, and team leaders for each service line
- Orientation is 2 weeks on day shift; buddy call is expected during orientation
- Holiday coverage is required per contract
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply with at least 2 years of CVOR experience
- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler at this facility
- An interview is required — this facility does not utilize auto offers
