Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a hospital in Elizabethtown, KY, providing critical and general respiratory care across a variety of patient populations.

Details

• Hospital-based respiratory therapy department
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
• 36 hours per week, 3 days per week
• Patient population spans neonatal, pediatric, and adult care
• Performs invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
• Administers medicated therapy (nebulized treatments and MDIs) and non-medicated therapy (chest physiotherapy, PEP)
• Performs arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, and oximetry monitoring and studies
• Performs pulmonary function testing (PFT), 12-lead ECG, Holter monitoring, and neurodiagnostic studies (EEG)
• Manages airway including endotracheal and tracheostomy tube care
• Responds to code blue and rapid response situations throughout the facility

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
• Active Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care certification or Indiana Professional Licensing Agency respiratory license required (license required if applicable)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (PALS may be waived for PFT-only candidates as determined by the hiring manager)
• NRP required for candidates working with the neonatal population (may be waived for PFT-only candidates as determined by the hiring manager)
• MM/DD of date of birth required for consideration
• Last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responds to emergency and high-risk situations including code blue, rapid response, and high-risk deliveries including care of compromised newborns
• Assists with advanced specialty procedures such as endotracheal intubation, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy
• Provides patient and family education on respiratory therapy, disease management, and medications
• Documents patient assessments, therapies, and clinical information in the medical record
• Participates in quality improvement projects, departmental meetings, huddle boards, and in-services
• Responsible for cleaning, preparing, and maintaining respiratory equipment including ventilators and gas delivery devices
