Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Peds Cardiac ICU experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.
Details
- 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital
- Cares for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease of all ages, including both cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses, with an average daily census of 26
- Serves as the referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina
- Common procedures include cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices (VAD), heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and complex medical cardiac diagnoses
- Unit supports ECMO, CRRT, ventilatory and cardiac support, and additional complex therapies; pediatric palliative care is available as needed
- All CVPICU beds are monitored beds
- Patient ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Requires 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and participation in a holiday rotation
- Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs may be required
- Charting system: Epic
- On-call is not required
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact (multi-state) RN license; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
- Required certifications (AHA only): PALS and BLS
- Preferred certification (AHA only): ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience required
- Cardiovascular (CV) and pediatric nursing experience required
- VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) experience highly preferred
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

- Multidisciplinary team includes RNs, Patient Care Technicians, Unit Secretaries, Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
- Orientation modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment
- Former permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC facility must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- All RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration; approval is based on unit needs
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
