Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Acute Care position requiring a GA or compact RN license, BLS certification, and at least 1 year of hospital Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Acute Care Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting with 36 beds
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, ESRD, pneumonia, renal failure, sickle cell crisis, orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery, AMS, and sepsis
• Patient ratios: RN/LPN 6:1, CNA 12:1
• Telemetry monitoring is present on the unit; nurses are not required to read strips
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a–7p
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Occasional floating required
• Hospitalist in house 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• No dedicated IV team; PICC team may be consulted as needed
• Charge nurse and nurse aides are available on the unit
• 17-week contract

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of hospital Med/Surg experience required
• MEDITECH experience preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility (measured from the address on the driver's license) to be eligible
• Candidates who have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible

• Scrub color requirement: white tops and hunter green pants
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
• Any time-off or scheduling requests must be disclosed upfront at the time of assignment confirmation
• The facility uses hand sanitizer compliance badges that must be returned at the end of the assignment
