Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Inpatient Rehab RN for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level I Trauma facility in West Virginia, caring for stroke, TBI, spinal cord, and amputation patients.
Details
- Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit in a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital setting
- Patient population includes stroke, TBI, spinal cord injuries, spinal surgery, and amputees
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
- Multidisciplinary team includes PT, OT, SLP, and neuropsych services
- Equipment used includes CPAP, BiPap, transfer equipment, trachs, nasal cannula, PEG and Mickey buttons, and NG tubes
- Charge nurse is present and carries an assignment
- CNA support is available intermittently at approximately 1 CNA per 8–10 patients
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Rotating weekends required (approximately 4 weekend days per month)
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- No on-call or standby requirements
- Floating may be required to an acute floor within the same facility if the unit is overstaffed
- No self-scheduling; shift requests may be submitted
- Royal blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient acute care experience required
- BSN not required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Two supervisor/peer references required for consideration (at least 1 supervisor reference; if permanently employed within the last 12 months, one reference must be from that facility)
- Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration
- Copies of certifications and driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- RNs are expected to participate in team conferences on day shift; night shift nurses are not required to attend
- No drip titration required on this unit
- No telemetry monitoring on this unit
- Unit-specific orientation is provided
- Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year; after reaching that threshold, a 2-year break is required before reapplying
- Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
