Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and cardiac drip management skills, with night shifts available on a 13-week contract.
Details
- Hospital-based Cardiac Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes those presenting with chest pain, arrhythmias, pacemaker or defibrillator needs; unit works with a heart failure navigator
- Patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Proficiency with cardiac GTT/drips required, including Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Heparin
- Night shift: 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts); 36 or 48 hours per week can be supported
- 4 weekend days required per 6-week scheduling cycle
- Floating required to other telemetry units
- EMR: Epic (experience required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication protocol
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required; may submit with license pending
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; may submit with certifications pending
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, EKG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management required
- Comfortable managing cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Heparin
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months are highly preferred; references required prior to start
- Must pass an EKG competency test prior to start
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate
- Previous permanent, PRN, or employed staff of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Orientation consists of 36 hours on-unit, offered weekly; no RTO is permitted during the first week of assignment
- Pre-start modules of approximately 8–10 hours are required and must be completed annually; modules are completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, or in-person classes
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; no RTO is permitted after booking without facility approval
- Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are welcome; each traveler must have their own transportation and be agreeable to potentially different schedules
- Navy scrubs required; scrubs are not provided
- Contract length is 13 weeks minimum; extensions beyond 13 weeks may be available
