Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ER Holding (Adult Admission) Unit position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring telemetry skills and a minimum of 1 year of experience.
Details
- Work in the Adult Admission Unit (AAU), a fast-paced ER holding unit that functions as a bridge between the Emergency Department and inpatient progressive care units
- Unit consists of 17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds, serving a diverse patient population across all specialties except ICU-level acuity
- Patient ratio is 1:4-5
- Charting is done in Cerner
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Floating is required to adjacent ED areas for admitted patients, ICU for sub-acute care (SAC) assignments, and any inpatient PCU areas
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling will be considered
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — RQI certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Telemetry monitoring skills required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency with a variety of medical equipment required
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- The AAU receives admitted patients from the ED and initiates inpatient standard of care until placement on one of 11 progressive care units; high patient turnover is expected
- Nurses must be able to manage telemetry, operate varied medical equipment, and demonstrate strong time management skills
- Relief charge nurse duties may be required as needed
- Located at a Level I Trauma Center, children's hospital, and academic teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Black scrubs required and are not provided by the facility
- Free parking is available on-site
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval; all scheduling requests should be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the 1-year mark at this facility are required to take a 6-month break before returning
- COVID vaccination is optional; however, the facility is required to report vaccine status — upload vaccination series or a signed declination form
