Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Oncology position requiring oncology and stepdown/PCU experience, Epic proficiency, and night shift availability.
Details
- 35-bed medical and radiation oncology unit specializing in oncology and hematology patients in a hospital setting
- Mixed acuity unit serving both Med/Surg and Advanced Care patients
- Patient population includes blood product transfusions, chemotherapy, drips, PCAs, and wound care
- Targeted patient ratio is 1:4, though ratios may reach 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule (4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- No block scheduling
- 36 or 48 hours per week available; 18 or 20-week contract options also available
- Epic EMR experience required
- Travelers are first to float at the facility's discretion, including to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units and potentially a high-risk respiratory/COVID unit
- If assigned to the main campus, floating may include a south campus (less than 10 miles away) and a north campus (less than 15 miles away)
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- 13-week contract standard; 8-week contracts also available
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting
- Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
- Stepdown (SD) or PCU experience required; ICU experience does not substitute for SD/PCU experience at this facility
- 1:5 ratio experience in a SD or PCU setting must be reflected in work history
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred
- Oncology experience required
- Sickle cell experience and ONS chemo certification preferred but not required
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Must be fitted for N95 mask prior to working on the high-risk respiratory unit (PAPR available if needed)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- RNs with ONS Certification may administer chemotherapy on the unit
- Navy blue scrubs required
- All RTO must be submitted with the initial profile; no RTO requests will be accepted after an offer is extended, and approval is at the manager's discretion
- First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but travel experience is preferred
