Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Main Operating Room position at a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience and both scrub and circulator skills.
Details
- Day shift position, 4x10 schedule (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- 13-week contract
- Main OR setting within an acute care hospital designated as a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center
- OR suite includes Main OR (22 beds), ASC (8 beds), and Ortho (10 beds)
- Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Equipment includes various surgical tools and the da Vinci robotic surgical system
- EMR: Epic
- On-call required on any scheduled day, averaging 5 or fewer calls per 8-week period
- Weekend hours required as needed by the facility
- Floating required as needed by the facility
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license eligible for MO licensure required
- BLS certification from AHA required
- Minimum 2 years of Level 1 or Level 2 trauma OR experience required; teaching hospital experience may be considered in lieu
- Experience as both an OR scrub tech and circulator required
- U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
- No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Performs direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the OR setting
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required; must be a highly motivated self-starter
- Physical requirements include standing and walking for most of the shift, lifting and pushing patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs, and the ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs.
- Scrubs are provided by the facility; jeans and unprofessional attire are not permitted
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption is required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a separation period or facility transfer is required
- Level 1 trauma experience with multiple years in the OR is preferred
