Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level 4 NICU position in San Antonio, TX, requiring at least 1 year of NICU experience and active TX or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Level 4 NICU in a children's hospital setting, caring for patients ranging from feeder growers to complex ICU neonatal cases
- Patient ratios are 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4; CNA support is provided for 1:4 assignments
- Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekends per 6-week period, plus two Mondays and two Fridays
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in TX or through a compact state
- Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- Current NRP certification required
- Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) certification required (Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor)
- Minimum 1 year of NICU or related neonatal nursing experience
- BSN preferred
- 2 professional references required for consideration
- US Social Security Number required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides nursing care utilizing the full nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned neonatal patients
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administers medications and treatments per protocol; monitors for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assesses learning needs and delivers education to patients, families, and caregivers
- All newly hired RNs must attend New Nurse Orientation within the first 30 days
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member; onboarding includes organizational and Perinatal Services-specific competency validations
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel pay rates
- Prior experience in a perinatal setting or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency is preferred
