Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in San Antonio, TX, requiring NRP and STABLE certifications for a Level 4 NICU night shift position.
Details
- Level 4 NICU at a children's hospital, caring for patients ranging from feeder growers to complex neonatal ICU cases
- Patient ratios of 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4, with CNA support on 1:4 assignments
- Night shift schedule: 7PM–7AM
- 4 weekends required per six-week period, plus two Mondays and two Fridays
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in TX or a compact state license
- Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- Current NRP certification required
- Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) certification required (Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor)
- Minimum 1 year of NICU or related neonatal nursing experience
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
- SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides nursing care using the full nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned neonatal patients
- Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side effects and effectiveness
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Educates patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and connects them with appropriate resources
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation required during onboarding
- All newly hired RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
- BSN preferred
- Prior experience in a perinatal setting or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency is preferred
