Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and remote telemetry monitoring experience.
Details
- Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes adults with multiple co-morbidities, with a specialization in stroke (neuro) patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–1:6
- Procedures and skills include remote telemetry monitoring, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts, CVA management, nasal cannula, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required; holiday coverage as needed
- Floating between all system facilities is required for travelers
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Remote telemetry monitoring experience required; on-unit telemetry monitoring experience preferred
- Experience with feeding tube care and management required
- Experience with port access, blood product administration, central line, peripheral line, and PICC line management required
- Experience working with a 1:5–1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio required
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- All RNs must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam (two attempts allowed) as part of the compliance process — candidates should prepare in advance as study materials are not provided by the facility
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
