Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care Birthing Center, requiring at least 2 years of LDRP experience and comfort with independent deliveries and C-section circulation on night shifts.
Details
- Acute care Birthing Center with 34 total L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
- Patient population includes high-risk cases (33 weeks and above), including preeclampsia, diabetic, psych/social, and positive elicit substance use patients
- Average of 150–180 births per month
- Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 for L&D and 1:3–4 for couplets
- Intermediate fetal heart monitoring (FHM) preferred; advanced FHM a plus
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin
- EFM system is Centricity Perinatal; PACU monitoring available post C-section
- Epic EMR is used on this unit
- 12-hour night shifts; weekend nights are Friday and Saturday
- Every other weekend requirement
- Holidays are rotated with permanent staff
- Standby/on-call requirement with a 45-minute response time
- Travelers may float within the unit to Mother Baby and Postpartum; no floating to NICU or outside the department
- Block scheduling available when requested
Requirements
- Active WA state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered with multiple prior travel assignments
- Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
- Must be comfortable assisting with catching and transitioning newborns
- Must have routine Mother Baby and Postpartum competencies, including the ability to transition babies and attend low-risk deliveries
- A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Free charge nurses are available on both shifts
- Unit support includes one surgical tech available 24/7, a patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift, a 24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist, a 24/7 NNP in the nursery, and OB anesthesia on-site 24/7 with a call room on the unit
- Respiratory therapy is typically assigned to the family birth unit
- Orientation consists of an 8-hour compliance day with the manager, an 8-hour Epic class, and 2–3 twelve-hour unit-specific orientation shifts
- Scrubs and a locker are provided by the facility
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
