Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/Peds position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of critical care RT experience on 12-hour night shifts.

- Large academic medical center with 885 licensed beds, Level 1 Trauma designation, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
- NICU and Pediatric respiratory care unit
- Patient population includes post-surgical, pneumonia, COPD, asthma, and ED patients across ICU and medical/surgical settings
- Assignments are based on traveler experience and departmental needs — may include ICU areas or med/surg floors
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
- Preferred equipment experience: Servo U, Servo Air, The Vest, Volara, Aerogen, Heated High Flow, and cough assist; HFJV and HFOV experience preferred for pediatric assignments
- 12-hour night shifts, 18:30–07:00, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- No on-call required
- Schedules are set on a 6-week cycle
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
Requirements
- Active NC Respiratory Therapist license required (license required if applicable)
- RRT required; CRT is acceptable but not preferred
- Current BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required; ACLS also required
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy critical care experience
- Previous experience in a Level 1 trauma center and/or high-acuity organization preferred
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- Department is supported by Lead Therapists on each shift, including both Adult and Pediatric Leads, with a strong team-oriented culture
- Orientation includes a facility NEO followed by 1–2 days of departmental orientation
- Scrub color: pewter (charcoal grey)
- Free parking is available on-site
