Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical Orthopedic unit position requiring Epic EMR experience and ACLS certification for night shift coverage.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma, academic teaching facility with 1,266 staffed beds
• Medical/Surgical Orthopedic unit managing knees, hips, total joints, hand, shoulder, foot and ankle, trauma, oncology, and complex orthopedic cases
• High-acuity, fast-paced environment involving post-op care (out of bed 4 hours post-op), drains, ice packs, patient education, phlebotomy, PCA, epidural management, and specialized mobility precautions
• Patient ratio of 1:4–5 across all shifts
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Float within service line required to meet facility needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting via Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or Compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license may be accepted with notation
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of med/surg nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• IV start proficiency required
• Must pass a Relias EKG exam; EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
• BSN preferred
• 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Orthopedic nursing experience preferred
• Experience with trapeze, walker, traction, lifts, and external fixation preferred
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are considered for this position only if they have Epic EMR experience
• Navy scrubs required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
