Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity CVICU position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.

- High-acuity CVICU in a short-term acute care hospital setting, a Magnet-designated and Level I Trauma teaching facility with 1,266 staffed beds
- Patient population includes acute heart failure, CHF exacerbation, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, complete heart block, pre-heart transplant, arrhythmias, and ventricular tachycardia
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Specialized procedures and equipment include ventilator management, arterial line management, pulmonary artery (PA) catheter monitoring, pacemakers, Impella devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), LVADs, vasoactive drips, central lines, TVP catheter monitoring, dialysis, and Foley catheters
- Charting performed in Epic; Epic experience required
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the service line required as needed to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand; pending IL license may be acceptable — please note at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience required; neuro ICU experience does not qualify
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to assignment
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days (up to 40 hours) per contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travel RNs may remain on assignment for up to 18 consecutive months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Scrub color is navy blue
- Parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department; travelers working straight night shifts park at no charge in employee parking
