Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center, requiring 5 years of experience and Level I Trauma background.
Details
- Night shift schedule (7p–7:30a), 3x12-hour shifts per week, with an option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4–6
- Work in a 1,266-bed short-term acute care Magnet and teaching hospital on a Med/Surg trauma unit
- Patient population includes geriatric trauma (55+), abuse/violence victims, MVA/MVC, falls, acute care surgery (appendicitis, gallbladder, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, TBI), spinal cord injuries, ortho trauma, and total joint replacements
- Patients are admitted from the ED, OR, or ICU
- Charting is done in Epic; Epic experience is required
- Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
- Every other weekend is required
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact license valid in MO required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management experience required
- Proficiency required in: blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, IV starts, insulin management, PCA, wound care/wound vac, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oral suctioning, oxygen delivery devices, isolation precautions, peripheral nerve block catheters, surgical drains, and spinal cord/TBI care
- Experience with specialized equipment including wound vacs, traction, external fixators, lifts, and restraints required
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Scrub color is navy blue
- Candidates may not be currently working or living within 75 miles of the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
- Parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department; night shift workers may park at no charge in employee parking
