Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a minimum of 1 year of experience for a night shift position at a large medical center with a broad patient population from neonates to geriatrics.

Details

  • Full-service hospital setting covering all floors, including a 30-bed ICU, 25-bed Open Heart unit, 25-bed NICU, 47-bed med/surg unit, and a 5-trauma bay ED
  • Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics
  • Department operates 24/7 with 12–16 therapists on day shift and 10–13 therapists on nights
  • Performs ventilator management, BiPAP management, medicated aerosol treatments, intubation, ABG draws and analysis, CPT, Nitric oxide therapy, and COVID patient management
  • Open heart patient care is part of the scope of practice
  • EMR: Epic (experience required); ventilator experience required with Servo I, GE, Hamilton, and PB840
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active RRT credential required
  • Active GA State Respiratory Therapy License required (license required if applicable)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
  • Experience with Epic EMR required
  • Hands-on experience with Servo I, GE, Hamilton, and PB840 ventilators required
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
  • Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
  • Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory therapy services across multiple units including ICU, Open Heart, NICU, and the ED
  • Scrub color: any color except all-red or all-navy-blue uniforms
  • RTO maximum of 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • Holiday coverage is expected: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • No schedule change requests or alternate shift arrangements are permitted; the posted night shift is firm
  • Travelers must have been away from all facilities in this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • No special scheduling requests are allowed for this position
