Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma, Children's, and Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, requiring TNCC prior to consideration and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience.
Details
- Emergency Department (ED) setting at a Level I Trauma, Children's, and Teaching Hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Approximately 60–80% of the ED census consists of admitted/boarding patients, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- 36 or 48-hour work weeks available
- Charting is done in Cerner
- Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed; weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Floating to Adult PCUs is an expectation based on staffing needs; floating to Peds ED is optional; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma DOE as well
- No on-call required
- Block scheduling is not available
- Scrubs must be black and are not provided by the facility
- Free parking on-site
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or compact license required; NM license may be pending at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required; candidates with 1.5 years may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIH may be pending until compliance documents are due; TNCC must be in hand prior to consideration)
- RQI certifications are not accepted
- Travel nursing experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers with 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience may be considered
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Travelers should expect assignments to include, and potentially consist primarily of, admitted/boarding patient care
- Responsibilities include medication administration via the seven medication rights, including IV medications, as well as documentation and communication of clinical findings
- COVID vaccination is optional; vaccine status (series or signed declination) must be uploaded for facility reporting purposes
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require prior approval; all time-off requests should be submitted at the start of the assignment
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
- 13-week contract length
