Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring ACLS, ICU care experience, and moderate sedation skills.

Details

  • Work in the Interventional Radiology unit of a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
  • Unit consists of 7 pre/post bays and 2 procedural suites
  • Patient population includes both outpatient and inpatient cases: biopsies, UFEs, kyphoplasties, port placements, diagnostic angiograms, interventional arterial and venous procedures, IVC placement, venous thrombectomies, neurological thrombectomies, coilings, aneurysm rupture repair, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
  • Patient ratio is 1:1 in procedure rooms and up to 1:3 in the pre/post area
  • Two available shift types: four 10-hour shifts per week (0630–1630) with a rotating day off, or three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating days off
  • Unit is open for routine procedures Monday–Friday, 0630–1630, and available for emergencies 24/7
  • On-call requirements are staffing dependent but typically every 4th weekend and one night per week
  • EMR: Cerner; IV pumps: Plum 360; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Spacelabs
  • Floating may be required to other procedural areas where skillset applies (e.g., cath lab pre/post area)

Requirements

  • Active AL RN license or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 1 year of IR or relevant experience accepted; first-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of experience
  • ICU care experience required
  • Moderate sedation experience required
  • Arterial line (art line) experience required
  • Medication titration experience required
  • Chest tube experience required
  • Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • One professional reference from a charge nurse or above within the past 12 months required for consideration
  • SSN and date of birth (month and day) required for consideration
  • Copies of current certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides pre/post and intraprocedural nursing care for a wide range of interventional radiology procedures
  • Charge nurse support available on the unit
  • Orientation consists of approximately 2 shifts on the unit and 1–2 shifts in education/onboarding
  • Holiday coverage is shared equally between core staff and travel staff; each staff member is expected to cover one winter holiday (Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Year's Day) and one summer holiday (July 4th, Memorial Day, or Labor Day)
  • Time off requests are subject to manager approval
  • Scrubs may be any color; green scrubs are provided when working in the procedure suite
  • Parking is available in assigned hospital areas and parking deck
  • Candidates who have worked at this facility as permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
