Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and rotating day/night shifts.
Details
- Med/Surg Oncology unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes those receiving chemotherapy, managing soft tissue malignancies, undergoing diagnostic services, and requiring symptom management related to disease progression or treatment
- Additional focus on comorbidity management, infection prevention protocols, and patient fall prevention
- Continuous cardiac monitoring is a key component of patient care on this unit
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (7:00–19:30 / 19:00–7:30); shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
- Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Equipment used includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation required
- Required skills include port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts, assistance with chest tube insertion/removal, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ABG interpretation
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
- Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after accepting an offer
Additional Information
- Oncology experience is preferred but not required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Local candidates are accepted
- Former employees of this facility are eligible to apply after a minimum 6-month separation
- RTO must be requested at time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
- Ohio fingerprinting is a mandatory credentialing requirement; candidates currently outside of Ohio but within driving distance will need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location; those at greater distances will receive a fingerprinting packet by mail to be completed urgently upon receipt
- Parking options are available for purchase on-site through the campus parking system

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
