Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with at least 2 years of echo experience, including acute care, for a 13-week travel contract at a community hospital in North Carolina.
Details
- Work in a hospital ultrasound department with 2 dedicated echo rooms; many exams are performed portably at bedside
- 96-bed community hospital that is a Primary Stroke Center; not trauma designated
- Primarily adult patient population including inpatient, outpatient (~75%), and ER patients
- Average daily volume of approximately 16 patients shared between two sonographers
- Required exam competencies include stress echo, strain imaging, contrast echo, bubble study, pre-TAVR, and TEE
- Uses Philips echo ultrasound equipment and Philips Intellispace PACS system
- Epic EMR; experience preferred
- Typically 10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday; no call required
- Weekend rotation is rare, though an occasional Sunday shift is possible with advance notice
- No holiday coverage required
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of echocardiography experience, with at least 1 year in an acute care setting
- Current BLS certification
- ARDMS-RDCS or CCI certification required
- Active license required, if applicable
- Must be competent in stress echo, strain imaging, contrast echo, bubble study, pre-TAVR, and TEE exams
- Must be comfortable working independently
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- First-time travelers may be considered with 5+ years of acute care experience (some outpatient experience acceptable)
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an affiliated facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
- Department support includes 1 additional echo tech, a General Imaging supervisor, a department assistant/transporter, RT coverage 24/7, hospitalist coverage 24/7, and a rapid response/code team 24/7
- A cardiologist is on-site each morning for stress echoes and reachable by phone throughout the day
- Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) followed by unit orientation for the remainder of the first week
- Schedule is made one month at a time; block scheduling may be accommodated upon request but is not guaranteed
- Black scrubs required
- Free on-site parking available
- A clinical interview with the manager is required as part of the hiring process
