Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel MRI Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of MRI experience for a 13-week assignment at a small community hospital in Ellsworth, ME.
Details
- Work in a single MRI room at a 64-bed community hospital with no trauma designation
- Patient population is primarily adults, with some older pediatric patients (typically age 10 and older), including outpatient, inpatient, ED, ICU, and med/surg cases
- Common scan types include neuro (strokes), soft tissue injuries, head/neck/spine, hips, oncology, extremities, joints, abdominal, breast, prostate, and some angiograms
- No vented or monitored patients; no cardiac, sedation, or pacemaker cases
- Average of 12–16 patients per day
- EMR: Cerner; PACS: Agfa
- Equipment: 1.5 Tesla Philips Ingenia Ambition (Philips experience preferred but not required)
- 4x10-hour shifts per week on a rotating Monday–Thursday / Tuesday–Friday schedule
- No weekend rotation and no on-call requirement
- Facility is closed for major holidays
- No floating required
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of MRI experience; a combination of acute and outpatient experience is acceptable
- Current BLS certification
- ARRT-MR or ARMRIT certification required
- Compact or Maine state RN license required if applicable
- Proficiency with IV starts and the patient types listed above
- Ability to work independently; must be comfortable working solo at times
- Strong communication, multitasking, and image quality skills
- 2 professional references within the past year required for consideration; at least one must be from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge (peer references not accepted)
- Copies of all certifications required for consideration
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Full SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME; candidates living 100+ miles north will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity are not eligible
- All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and go through the manager for approval
- Support staff includes lead techs in other modalities, an on-site manager/supervisor, a rapid response/code team, and hospitalist/ER physicians available 24/7; a radiologist is on-site Wednesday and Thursday with remote coverage during standard business hours and after-hours teleradiology available
- No dedicated transporter for the department; inpatient staff typically bring patients, though the tech may occasionally need to transport patients
- New employee orientation (NEO) provided; first week includes facility orientation
- Flu vaccination is required for clearance to start
- Scrubs must be a solid color with no graphics, logos, or designs
- Free parking is available on-site
