Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel contract in San Antonio, TX, requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg experience and an active TX RN license.
Details
- Work in a Surgical unit (612) and Neuro Surgical unit (614) within an acute care hospital setting
- 40-bed unit serving surgical and trauma patients, including those with large wounds
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Unit support includes 1 Unit Coordinator on days, 3 PCAs on day shift, and 2-3 PCAs on night shift
- Procedures performed include all surgical procedures, trauma care, and large wound management
- Charting performed in Meditech
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required per the Methodist Floating Policy
Requirements
- Active TX RN license required; temp licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- Proficiency with Meditech charting required
- Experience with IV peripheral start and care, and central line care required
- Experience with tubes and drains including NG, JP, and chest tubes required
- Ostomy care experience required
- Foley catheter insertion and care experience required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Preferred skills include tracheostomy care, wound VAC and large dressing changes, 3-way bladder irrigation, patient education and communication
- Meditech experience is preferred
- RN scrub color: navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket
- Nail policy: no acrylic nails, no longer than ¼ inch, clean and no chipped nail polish
- Hair must be off shoulders and natural color
- Body art should be covered whenever possible; cases where coverage is not feasible will be addressed individually
- Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
