Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg & Cardiology unit position in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work on a 30-bed Med/Surg & Cardiology unit (2 West) in an acute care hospital setting
  • Patient population includes pre- and post-heart cath, general cardiology (chest pain, hypertension), and med/surg patients
  • Patient ratio is 1:6
  • Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Travelers are first to float
  • No on-call requirements
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Standard acute care equipment used
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand — no hits on license accepted
  • Current BLS certification required; must be AHA-issued (American Red Cross not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required; cardiology experience preferred
  • Acute care skills required
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care to pre/post-heart cath and general cardiology and med/surg patients
  • The facility is a 595-bed Joint Commission-accredited comprehensive healthcare facility recognized for cardiovascular services, stroke care, rehabilitation, bariatrics, and surgical care
  • Navy scrubs required
  • The ideal candidate is flexible, open to feedback, dependable, and personable with both staff and patients
