Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and proficiency with critical care skills including vent management and vasoactive drips.

Details

• Heavy Medical ICU unit with some surgical patients, primarily GI and carotid cases
• Serves a very active 24/7 Cath Lab, with post-cath and post-intervention patients admitting directly to the ICU
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Weekend availability required (schedule varies/flexible)
• Floating required within scope to AAU and Med/Surg units, as well as to affiliate hospitals nearby
• Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
• Scrub color: red top, black bottoms
• Free parking on site

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS required (AHA or RQI accepted); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure care, and pre/post cardiac cath/intervention
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, GI surgery patients, and chronic/acute renal failure
• Skills required: arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Respiratory skills required: BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning
• Infection prevention and isolation/PPE protocols required
• 2 supervisor references required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Candidates must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Indiana residents are considered local and are not eligible for this position; candidates must reside outside of Indiana to qualify
• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month gap before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break, in-state residents require a 180-day break
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
