Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Oncology travel assignment at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, with chemotherapy administration experience strongly preferred.
Details
- Work in an Oncology unit of a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 total staffed beds
- Average daily census of 24 patients across 24 beds
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:15 AM – 6:45 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
- No on-call requirements
- Charting in Cerner
- Free parking via permit obtained during orientation
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; license pending or in active application process is acceptable
- Minimum 1 year of oncology RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- Chemotherapy administration certification preferred but not required
- Required chemotherapy skills: administration, continuous infusion, IV push, oral administration, body fluid handling post-chemo, monitoring, cytotoxic spill management, and recognition/communication of abnormal lab values
- Required IV/infusion skills: accessing and caring for ports, central line blood draw, central line/implanted line care, PICC line care, starting IVs, blood/blood product administration, and administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- All required certifications must be active at time of consideration
Additional Information
- 13-week contract
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Candidates who have been a permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- RTO is ideally no more than 5 days for the contract; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Scrubs may be any solid color
