Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Vascular OR/CVOR position at an acute care hospital in West Virginia, requiring open vascular and endovascular surgical experience with circulating and sedation responsibilities.
Details
- Work setting is an acute care hospital Heart and Vascular Institute with 6 OR suites handling 14–16 cases per day
- Unit covers vascular, cardiac, and thoracic surgery services
- Common vascular cases include peripheral artery bypass, AAA repair (open and endovascular), carotid endarterectomy, fistula creation, amputations, EVAR, TCAR, and diagnostic angiography
- Cardiac surgery cases include CABG, valve repair/replacement (open and robotic), ECMO, and transplant
- Thoracic cases include robotic, endoscopic, and open procedures such as lung resection, VATS, esophagostomy, POEM, hiatal hernia repair, mediport, EGD, and stent placement
- Charting system: Epic
- Schedule is four 10-hour day shifts (6:00 AM–4:30 PM)
- Mandatory call required: one night of call per week and one weekend of call per month, with a 30-minute response time
- Holiday call coverage required as needed
- May be required to float within other services of the Heart and Vascular Institute
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
- Experience in vascular surgery required, including open vascular and endovascular procedures (peripheral artery bypass, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, fistula creation, amputations, EVAR, TCAR)
- Experience with cardiac or thoracic surgery is highly beneficial, as the unit covers all three service lines
- Experience circulating and administering sedation required
- Sedation experience preferred
- General surgery OR background may be considered if vascular experience is included
- Diploma copy required for onboarding purposes
- Driver's license address must reflect a residence more than 50 miles from the facility
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference
Additional Information
- Role responsibilities include circulating and sedating for vascular, cardiac, and thoracic surgical cases
- A charge nurse is present each day in the OR to provide oversight and support
- One week of unit orientation provided
- Hospital-provided ceil blue surgical scrubs required
- On-call housing is available for clinicians when needed during call shifts
- Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered
- Candidates who have reached a cumulative one year of travel experience within WVU Medicine must also take a 2-year break before returning
- A direct manager interview is required as part of the selection process
