Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Long-Term Care (LTC) position at a nursing home setting, requiring at least 1 year of experience with an elderly population and BLS certification.

Details

• Post-acute care setting in a nursing home attached to a hospital, with 70 beds (majority private rooms)
• LTC/SNF unit serving patients with dementia, frailty, elderly care needs, and rehabilitation
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:20; LPN ratio is 1:20; CNA ratio is 1:8
• Clinical procedures include IV therapy, catheterization, ostomy care, assessments, medication administration, and charge nurse duties
• EMR system: ECS (facility is transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
• 12-hour day shifts on a block schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Must be available for at least half of the holidays during the assignment
• Floating is required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Prior experience working with elderly patients required
• IV therapy experience required
• No BSN required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include charting, patient assessments, charge duties, medication administration, and clinical skills such as IVs, catheterizations, and ostomy care
• Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, housekeeping, and respiratory therapy (RT on-site 24/7)
• On-site pharmacy and medication dispensing system available
• Physician available after hours
• DON, charge nurse, and house supervisor support on-site
• Scrub dress code: any solid color, clean and professional
• Orientation length varies based on individual skills
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which affects the travel pay rate
• 2 professional references are required for consideration: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years of relevant experience
