Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level III trauma facility in Arizona, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications and a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital ICU setting with 12 beds
- Level III trauma center
- 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Common cases include pneumonia, ARDS, sepsis, DKA, CVA post-tPA, AFib with RVR, renal failure, ETOH/OD, post-cath, EVAR, and various surgical cases
- Cardiac procedures include Left Heart Caths, Coronary Interventions, STEMIs, IVUS, IFR/FFR, Temporary Pacemaker Insertions, and IABP Insertions — no open heart or neuro surgery, no fresh transplants
- Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Levophed, Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Vecuronium, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Lasix, Insulin, Heparin (weight-based), and Norepinephrine
- Equipment includes GE floor-mounted C-Arm and Table, Volcano System, Change Healthcare Cardiology Hemo System, and Getinge IABP; arterial lines and hypothermia protocol utilized
- Typically 1–2 ventilated patients at any given time
- Charting via Allscripts
- 12-hour night shifts, 1800–0630
- Modified self-scheduling with block scheduling accommodated when possible
- Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
- May float to the ED or Med/Surg if experienced
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or compact RN license required
- Current AHA certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Experience with basic ICU equipment required
- BSN not required
Additional Information
- Orientation is held every Monday (8-hour orientation)
- Support staff on the unit includes Patient Care Technicians, a Health Unit Secretary, and a Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
- An Administrative Shift Coordinator (House Supervisor) is in-house 24/7
- Nurse manager provides patient care support as needed
- No on-call requirements
- No holiday coverage requirements listed
- Scrubs of any color are acceptable
