Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (STICU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and relevant certifications, with night shift availability and a 75-mile radius restriction.
Details
- 20-bed Surgical ICU (STICU) in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient ratio is typically 2:1, with 1:1 ratios common for higher-acuity patients
- Complex patient population includes neuro patients (including those who are herniating and with brain drains), ortho trauma requiring traction, cardiovascular device patients (balloon pumps, Impellas, EKOS), post-op open-heart CABG patients, open abdomens managed at bedside, and renal patients requiring CRRT
- Medical ICU overflow patients may be assigned to the unit when census requires
- An ECMO program is planned to launch during the assignment period
- Nurses run CRRT at the bedside
- Charting is performed in MEDITECH
- Night shift: 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- 17-week contract
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU or STICU experience required
- Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center strongly preferred
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS
- Experience with specialized cardiovascular devices (balloon pumps, Impellas, EKOS) preferred
- Experience with CRRT preferred
- A valid Driver's License is required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Orientation is 16 hours
- Any time-off or scheduling requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
