Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level II Trauma facility in Nebraska, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and active NE or Compact RN licensure.

- Acute care ICU setting at a Level II Trauma facility with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16
- Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3 for adults
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
- RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips; GE monitor brand is used with tele tech oversight
- Respiratory support ranges from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
- Epic EMR is used in this position
- 12-hour day shifts, 0630–1830
- Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required
- Float requirement to PCU and occasionally Med/Surg at a 1:4 or 1:5 ratio
- Minimum of 2 holidays that fall within the contract period are required
- If placed on call, a 30-minute callback response time is required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications will not be accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Valid driver's license required for consideration (used to verify residence is at least 50 miles from the facility)
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates may not be currently or recently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year — candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
Additional Information
- Nurse aides are available based on census and may provide 1:1 sitting or floor assistance; a Healthcare Support Tech is available 3 days per week (Mon–Fri), 0800–1630
- Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added into the schedule — block scheduling is not approved unless weekends only
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 1 shift; a pass/fail open-book exam is administered on Wednesdays during orientation and requires a minimum score of 90% to pass
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
- RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
- Blue scrubs or facility dress code requirements may apply — confirm with your recruiter
- BSN is not required for this position
