Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a rural community hospital in Minnesota, requiring at least 3 years of OR circulator experience including general surgery and total joint orthopedic cases.
Details
- Acute care setting in a rural community hospital OR with 7 suites
- Average caseload of 5–25 cases per day
- Common case types include general surgery, orthopedics/sports medicine (including total joints), plastics and cosmetics, podiatry, cataract/eye procedures, OB/GYN/women's health (non-cancer), and endoscopy/colonoscopy
- Charting performed in Cerner/Oracle EMR
- Day shift, 8-hour shifts (0645–1515), five days per week
- Block scheduling managed by the unit manager; travelers are expected to be flexible in filling scheduling gaps
- Weeknight on-call rotations required 1–2 times per week, with approximately 15.5 hours of weeknight call coverage
- Weekend on-call required 1–2 times per month with 24-hour call shifts (Saturday 0645–Sunday 0645 and Sunday 0645–Monday 0645)
- 30-minute on-call response time required
- Holiday call rotation may be required, covering the day before and day of a holiday, or day of and day after; if the holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, the adjacent weekend may be included
- Floating may be required to OR scrub, PAA/PACU, sterile processing, or general support roles
Requirements
- Active MN RN license required
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS is a plus
- Minimum 3 years of RN OR circulator experience required
- Must be comfortable circulating across a wide variety of case types
- General surgery and orthopedic experience required, specifically total joint procedures
- Experience in similarly sized facilities such as Trauma Level 3 or 4 and/or Critical Access Hospitals required
- Plastics/cosmetics experience preferred
- Scrub experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
Additional Information
- Circulate and scrub across a diverse range of surgical cases in a high-variety rural OR environment
- OR techs are on staff to support the surgical team
- Supervised by one charge nurse covering OR, PAA, and PACU
- Orientation consists of 1–2 shifts with a preceptor plus 1–2 call shifts with a preceptor
- Facility-provided scrubs must not be worn outside the facility; candidates should arrive dressed appropriately
