Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift adult respiratory/neuro diagnostics position at a Level II Trauma Center, with experience in adult critical care, ER, and community hospital settings required.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting with 431 staffed beds, designated as a Level II Trauma Center
- Adult respiratory and neuro diagnostics unit
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
- Floating required to the ER and Adult ICU Stepdown units as needed
- Mandatory on-call requirement: 3 shifts per 6-week period
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting in Epic EMR
- Wine-colored scrubs required
Requirements
- Active VA state license required, or documented proof of VA license application submitted along with a current license from another state (national license not accepted); license required if applicable
- BLS and CRTT certifications required
- ACLS required; candidates may begin the assignment with ACLS pending, provided it is obtained within 90 days of the start date
- RRT credential preferred
- Minimum experience required in airway management, medication administration, ABGs, O2 therapy, suction, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizers
- Adult critical care, ER, and community hospital work setting experience required
- NICU, ED, and adult ICU experience preferred
- Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies, as well as arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis, and CPAP/BiPAP implementation and management
- Adult and neonatal intensive care and emergency department experience is preferred but not required in all areas
- Candidates are expected to attend monthly department meetings when scheduled; if not working, candidates must review meeting minutes and send written acknowledgment to management
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- Time-off requests are handled at the manager's discretion
- Two professional supervisor references from the past 2 years required for consideration
- A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
