Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift adult respiratory/neuro diagnostics position at a Level II Trauma Center, with experience in adult critical care, ER, and community hospital settings required.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting with 431 staffed beds, designated as a Level II Trauma Center
• Adult respiratory and neuro diagnostics unit
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
• Floating required to the ER and Adult ICU Stepdown units as needed
• Mandatory on-call requirement: 3 shifts per 6-week period
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting in Epic EMR
• Wine-colored scrubs required

Requirements

• Active VA state license required, or documented proof of VA license application submitted along with a current license from another state (national license not accepted); license required if applicable
• BLS and CRTT certifications required
• ACLS required; candidates may begin the assignment with ACLS pending, provided it is obtained within 90 days of the start date
• RRT credential preferred
• Minimum experience required in airway management, medication administration, ABGs, O2 therapy, suction, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizers
• Adult critical care, ER, and community hospital work setting experience required
• NICU, ED, and adult ICU experience preferred
• Level II Trauma Center experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies, as well as arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis, and CPAP/BiPAP implementation and management
• Adult and neonatal intensive care and emergency department experience is preferred but not required in all areas
• Candidates are expected to attend monthly department meetings when scheduled; if not working, candidates must review meeting minutes and send written acknowledgment to management
