Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a 13-week acute care travel assignment covering inpatient, ER, ICU, and med-surg floors.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting covering inpatient units, ER, ICU, med-surg floors, and facility-wide emergencies
- Primarily adult patient population with minimal pediatric and neonatal exposure (ER or newborn); occasional coverage for high-risk deliveries
- Approximately 20–25 treatments per RT per shift, typically with 2 RTs on shift
- Ventilator equipment includes PB980, PB840, SurvoU, LTV1200, and Hamilton; BiPAP/CPAP includes V60 and Home ResMed; high-flow therapy via Optiflow
- Charting in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
- 12-hour shifts; primarily nights (1800–0600), with rare variable shifts communicated in advance
- Day shift hours are 0600–1800
- Rotating weekend coverage approximately every 3rd weekend
- Holiday coverage required: 2 out of 3 winter holidays and every other holiday otherwise
- No call or on-call requirement
- No floating requirement
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- RRT credential via NBRC required
- Active certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, and PALS (AHA)
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
- Proficiency with mechanical ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow therapy, ABGs, EKGs, and intubation assist
- Ability to insert king airways in emergency situations prior to provider arrival
- Previous travel experience preferred
- License required if applicable — an active license is not required at time of consideration but must be active by the start date
- 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years of relevant specialty experience
Additional Information
- Daily duties include basic respiratory therapies, ABGs, EKGs, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management (including intubation weaning and extubation), and timely charting in Cerner
- RTs assist with intubation and insert king airways in emergencies prior to provider arrival
- Hospitalist available 24/7; intensivist in house for the majority of the day; eICU support available overnight
- Department orientation consists of 3 shifts: 1 day with the lead RT reviewing equipment, 1 day shadowing and reviewing the department, and a 3rd orientation on the assigned shift
- Dark green scrubs required
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date; hospital approval is also required
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which affects the applicable pay rate
- First-time travelers will be considered, though prior travel experience is preferred
