Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, cardiac drip knowledge, and an active Idaho or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 27-bed Telemetry unit (expanding to 37 beds in June) within an acute care hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts
- Weekends required based on unit needs; no block scheduling
- Holiday coverage required based on unit needs
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with nurse aides available at a 1:8–9 ratio
- Common diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, diabetes, CAD, renal failure, respiratory failure, pneumothorax, and post-cath lab patients
- Experience with TR bands and Fem stops is preferred; sheath pulling is not required
- Cardiac drips commonly seen include set-rate diltiazem and amiodarone; no epi or nitro on this floor
- RNs are required to read and document telemetry strips every 6 hours; currently using SpaceLab monitors with a transition to Philips
- RT manages CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment
- Charge nurse and house supervisor are both present and do not take patients
- Floating required to like units and Med/Surg; may also float to sister campuses and ICU (if experienced)
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active Idaho (ID) or compact RN license, active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- BSN required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a telemetry RN
- Cardiac drip experience required
- NIH stroke scale assessment experience required
- Post-cath recovery experience required
- Chest tube experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this travel assignment
Additional Information
- 2-shift department-specific orientation following system onboarding
- Telemetry techs are currently on the floor but will be centralized off-site in June
- Scrubs must be clean, well-kept, and professional in appearance (any color)
- Scheduling requests and block scheduling are not accommodated; peer shift trades are permitted
- Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- No local candidates accepted
