Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and proficiency with ventilators, continuous infusions, and Epic EMR.

Details

• Hospital ICU setting serving an adult to geriatric patient population
• High volume of ventilator and arterial line (A-line) management
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3
• Experience with titration of continuous infusions including sedation agents, pain medications, paralytic agents, and vasopressors is required for this unit
• Agency RNs are not assigned to CRRT patients unless competency on the Baxter PrisMax machine can be demonstrated
• Multidisciplinary morning rounds include intensivist, bedside RN, PharmD, RRT, OT/PT, dietitian, case manager, and wound care
• Bedside RN is responsible for patient transport (e.g., to CT), alongside a tech and RRT if the patient is on a ventilator
• Night shift NPs manage central line and vascath/A-line placement, attend all codes, address ICU care issues, and admit patients from the ED to the ICU — serving as first call before the intensivist
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and to a sister campus is required within scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• EMR: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR documentation

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
• Proficiency with ventilator management and A-lines required
• Experience titrating continuous infusions of sedation, analgesic, paralytic, and vasopressor agents required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Candidates must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least 1 full year before returning as a travel nurse

• RTO maximum is 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2, with 1 holiday RTO request eligible for approval
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as 1), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as 1), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as 1)
• No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted — the listed shift is firm
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
• Copies of required certifications (BLS, ACLS) are required for consideration
