Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active GA or compact RN license, working night shifts in an adult-to-geriatric progressive care setting.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting, serving an adult to geriatric patient population
• Patient diagnoses include hypertensive urgency, AFib with RVR, DKA/HHS, sepsis, respiratory insufficiency requiring BiPAP, heart failure, COPD exacerbation, post-operative care, GI bleed, stable stroke, chronic ventilator care, unstable angina, and drug overdose
• Patient ratio of 5:1 with an average daily census of 4.5
• EMR systems used: Epic and Pyxis
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required (6 shifts per 6-week schedule)
• Floating required within the facility and possibly to a sister campus, within scope of practice
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry experience required, including management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above) highly preferred; charge nurse references are not accepted

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two, and one holiday RTO request may be reviewed for approval
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers must be away from all facilities in this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a travel nurse
• No special scheduling requests or alternate shift requests are permitted; the listed shift is firm
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• The shift listed is fixed — no alternate shifts or schedule changes will be accommodated
