Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stroke/Neuro PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with Epic EMR experience.
Details
- Work in a telemetry PCU (12 West) specializing in hospitalist medicine, stroke, and neurology patients at a large acute care facility with over 700 licensed beds
- Unit is a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center at a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital
- Patient ratio is typically 1:5 with a staffing goal of 1:4
- IV drips managed include Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine (no titration)
- Remote telemetry monitoring with tele sitting implemented to support Patient Care Tech coverage
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- 13-week contract with night shifts, 3x12s, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM; 4x12 schedule available by request
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- Floating within skillset required
- One holiday must be worked per 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active VA state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Neuro PCU experience required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Experience with cardiac drip administration (no titration required)
- Respiratory support skills including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Familiarity with isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown environments
- Epic EMR experience required
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

- First-time travelers are considered, though prior travel experience is preferred
