Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring OH or compact RN licensure and prior cardiac ICU experience.
Details
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting in a teaching hospital
- Patient population includes post cardiac surgery, CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, LVAD/RVAD, and ECMO patients
- Estimated patient ratios of 1:1-2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
- 36 hours per week
- Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
- Rotating holiday coverage required
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred
- Epic experience required
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Skills required include IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, conscious sedation, and intra-aortic balloon pump management
- Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management required
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references accepted)
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular surgical and interventional patients
- Manage patients with hemodynamic monitoring devices including PA lines, arterial lines, and balloon pumps
- Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Care for patients on ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
- Administer emergency medications and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
- RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract
