Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a night shift position at a large hospital system, with floating required across multiple campuses in the Metro Region.
Details
- Large 700-bed acute care hospital setting with 7 adult ICUs (16 beds each), pediatric, and adult acute care units
- Patient population includes adults, geriatrics, and pediatrics; must be comfortable with all age groups including pediatric ER patients
- Diagnoses treated include asthma, COPD, emphysema, pneumonia, and various non-pulmonary conditions
- Floating required as needed within the Metro Region between Toledo, Flower, and Bay Park hospital campuses, including mid-shift floating
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00
- Epic EMR required
- Ventilator management includes BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Airway management responsibilities include endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, nasal and oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy/suctioning
- Medication administration includes Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Perforomist, Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, and Xopenex
- Medication delivery systems include aerosol mask and trach setups, metered dose inhalers, and medihalers
- Oxygen therapy includes high flow nasal cannula and trach collar
- Equipment used includes Servo I, Avea, and Bella Vista ventilators
- Changing tubing and bags for invasive/arterial lines is an RRT responsibility on Toledo and Bay Park campuses (preferred experience)
Requirements
- Valid Ohio RRT license required; license required if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
- Adult critical care and emergency department experience required
- High-risk experience preferred; candidates without high-risk experience must be open to on-site high-risk training
- Comfort with basic pediatric respiratory therapy care required; specific pediatric hospital experience not required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP (must be obtained prior to start date)
- ABG interpretation proficiency required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Provides both general and critical care including medication delivery, bronchopulmonary hygiene, hyperinflation therapy, initiation/management/weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation, airway management, cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation assist, extubation, and maintenance of indwelling lines
- Responds to rapid response events and emergency codes; performs CPR
- Performs blood gas sampling and analysis, specimen collection, and spontaneous breathing parameters
- Assists with pediatric patients including pediatric ER cases; must be comfortable treating all age groups
- Assists in high-risk deliveries (neonatal/peds)
- Bronchoscopy care experience is relevant to this role
- Grey scrubs required
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
- All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
