Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Clinician may sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
- ICU unit serves a diverse patient population including pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgery patients, medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, pre- and post-transplant, and end-of-life/organ donation cases
- Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
- Specialized equipment includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
- Charting via Epic; prior Epic experience required
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within service line to other ICU units required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract with option to extend beyond 13 weeks
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration; IL pending license may be accepted with notation
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Experience in both Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Unit settings required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required clinical skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, CVP and pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) monitoring, arterial line management, CRRT/chronic and acute renal failure management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP management, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, phlebotomy, surgical wound and wound vac care, and infection prevention/PPE use
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Navy scrubs required
- Monthly parking passes are available through Public Safety ()
- Travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
