Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg (ACU) night shift position in a rural, culturally rich community in Northwestern Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience and an active AZ or Compact RN license.

- Acute Care Unit (ACU) within a JCAHO-accredited regional health center serving the Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute communities across a 4,400 square mile area
- 73-bed hospital functioning as a referral center for the western Navajo and Hopi Reservations
- Patient population spans all ages, including inpatient and outpatient cases across a broad range of specialties
- Night shift schedule: 18:30–07:00, three 12-hour shifts per week
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license, currently in hand and unrestricted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- TCAR (Trauma Care After Resuscitation) certification required within 6 months of hire
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 6 months of hire
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in an acute or sub-acute facility
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a diverse, rural healthcare environment
Additional Information
- Provides professional nursing care across a variety of patient conditions and treatments, following physician orders, standards of care, and hospital policies
- Works within a multidisciplinary team including physicians across numerous specialties, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, CRNAs, and LPNs
- Orientation is held every 2 weeks
- Fingerprinting is required prior to start and is completed during the compliance process via mail
- COVID-19 vaccination required; flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted with a submitted declination form
- Facility is located in a very rural area of Northwestern Arizona on the Colorado Plateau — candidates should be prepared for a remote work and living environment
- Limited on-site housing may be available (shared units at $600/month); housing is not guaranteed, and a housing application must be submitted 2 weeks prior to start
- Housing does not permit family members or pets
- SSN is required for consideration
